Description

My StG.44
Considered to be the world's first assault rifle, the StG.44 was concieved during World War II, and according to legend, the term assault rifle was coined by Hitler himself.
Utilizing the then new concept of the "intermediate power rifle round", the StG.44 fired the 7.92x33mm round, which was basically the standard issue 7.92x57mm rifle round fitted to a shorter case and filled with a lighter powder charge. Although this lead to a shorter range and less firepower than the original standard issue round, it provided much more firepower than submachineguns which were then in widespread use. It also offered substantially better range and accuracy, almost doubling the effectiveness of the average infantry soldier.

After World War II, the StG.44's concepts would be the template on which many new rifles would be built, thus bringing the assault rifle to the forefront of weapon designs and military operations.

Got the GSG StG-44 .22LR variant myself, still sitting in its wooden box going on 12 years now unfired. Probably cause I have more fun with the GSG MP-5 .22LR.

I regret not buying extra mags for the StG-44 when they were plentiful and cheap. Now they average $100-$120 each. I jumped on a NIB 25 rounder for $79 without arguing. damn shame they only came with one magazine.
