Tacti-cool Stupidity, Round 2. Cowboy Tactical.

Wasn't the whole interest and allure of the old lever action "cowboy" guns their simplicity, their rugged, old world construction and their components made of just two things, wood and steel?

Apparently, that's just not the case anymore. On seeing this, I'm just gonna sit here and wait for the Colt Peacemaker with the rail under the barrel and "tactical" grips.

American Guns were made of two things; Steal and wood. Winchesters were made of, guess what?, Wood and Steal, and it needs to stay that way. Granted, a plastic stock for a modern day milatary situation would make sence.

No, wait. There was a third thing in the 19th century. Brass.
Wood, steel, brass. I myself almost forgot about brass.

At first I thought this was some bad photoshop-picture, but then I realized it was actually REAL ?! :iconfacepalmplz:

Why not use a real Winchester and use that gun as target practice (Although that might be a little too expensive).

If it wasn't for the fact that its on Mossberg's own site, I wouldn't have believed it either.

Are you fuckin' kidding me??? At first I thought this was some bad shoop. So that pile of synthetic idiocy is for real, huh? And. . .And. . .MOSSBERG made this? Wow. I had respect for them (used their 500A .12 gauge alot) But no more. . .

One of those with the wood replaced with just straight synthetic stock and grip wouldn't be so bad- without all the tacti-crap piled on, like a modern refreshment of a classic design. But this proves that you can't beat a classic. Old wild west guns should just stay in the wild west.

Yeah. I couldn't believe it either, but on seeing that on Mossberg's actual site.... :dead:

Maybe, maybe a conventional, synthetic, non-"tactical" stock like you said could be okay. Maybe. I dunno though. When it comes to 19th Century designs...steel, brass and wood are what comes to mind.
But this "tacti-cool" shit? Uh. No. Just no. Straight up no. And looking at it, note the caliber. Its offered in the classic .30-30 round. What, no "tactical 5.56mm" or anything? I'm almost surprised.

My main objection is the very obsolete tube magazine, which is slower to load that a box-type, and limits your ammunition to flat-nose bullets.

Then there's the whole manual recocking of the firing mechanism.
